Turned our service off without warning

On January 3, 2008, our small business phone line in our home was shut off without warning by AT&T because the December, 2007 bill had not been paid yet (the last payment was for November 15, 2007 bill). When I called to inquire we were on hold for 30 minutes and HAD to have the 3 digit number (shown on your phone bill) before they would even talk to you. Since I was at work, and the subject business phone was in my home, I didn't have the AT&T bill with me, nor the 3 digit number they required. I asked if I could pay any past due amounts with my credit card and they said NO, I HAD to have the 3 digit AT&T code number in order to pay the bill. This was very frustrating dealing with their customer service dept. Then, on top of that, they charged a reconnect and late fee later when I finally had the 3 digit AT&T code number!! Don't use AT&T unless you have too (like we do).
