Self-Checkout Lines are Terrible!

When I go grocery shopping, I like to get all my groceries, especially fruits and vegetables, and check out with a human being who runs everything through, bags my groceries for me, and even offers to help me to my car. Lately, Safeway stores in Denver, Colorado have decided that they are going to make you do all the work yourself! Now 75% of the lines are "Self Check Out" Lanes, and only 25% have actual employees working! The idea made sense...that you could run your groceries through on your own and get out faster. Yea, maybe if you only have a couple of items, none being fruits or vegetables that require a special code and have to be weighed! But if you only shop twice a month and spend a couple hundred dollars and have LOTS of fruit or veges, then you are screwed! Everytime I go through, I get an error with something. Then it takes twice as long to get out of there because I have to wait for an employee to run their card through to fix the problem. That takes forever because the one employee that can help is trying to fix all the other errors at all the other lanes! The best part is that now that everyone hates the 8 Self Checkout Lanes, they all jam up the 4 lanes that have trained employees. So those lanes are miles long, but the Self Checkout Lanes are empty. I have complained numerous times, and they always "thank me" for my comments, but they won't give me back the trained employees to check me out! We have enough stuff automated these days. Can't we just have one thing run by a human being again?!?!

When their customers start going to other stores, they might get the message. These big businesses will do anything nowadays to save a buck. They just don't realize they are shooting themselves in the foot in the long run.
I literally HATE self-checkouts. They never funtion properly and it wastes more of my time then standing in a regular line. It never fails that something refuses to scan and then the computer says, "Please wait for a clerk before continuing." Grrrrrrrrr, this truly gets under my skin.
Another thing I hate is going to Aldi's here in Peoria and having to pay a quarter to used a damned grocery cart. Whats up with that???? And then, after you get through the checkout, you either bring your own bag OR buy one from them so you can bag your own groceries which you just purchased from them. UNREAL!
