Misinformed concerning service availability

My husband is in the military. We were just recently on leave in Missouri from Germany, on our way to Alaska. We decided to purchase a phone and plan, mainly because his family, his children most importantly, have cingular services and the "great" mobile-to-mobile cingular offered. We asked specifically if we would be able to use the phones in Alaska for the next 3 years with the cingular plan, of course we were told yes, there was coverage and service there and to not worry about it, our plan was good for the full 3 years. Low and behold, it's not. There is AT&T up here, but surprise, surprise, no cingular direct service, just partners and now we're going to get cancelled all because we were lied to!!!! Why on earth would we have purchased the phone and plan with a $300.00 deposit if we weren't told that all was well and our service would be upheld while in Alaska??????? Flat our we were lied to and people need to see this. By the way, we weren't the only people that did this, there are many soldiers that have arrived here recently and purchased the same plan as we did, because they were also told that their coverage and service would be alright. What now????????
